Lando Norris has demonstrated that McLaren is a top contender in Singapore. He clocked the fastest time in the second free practice session, with a significant lead. Only Charles Leclerc came close to his time. Max Verstappen, however, lagged behind in the 15th position.

Under a dark sky, the drivers commenced the second free practice for the Singapore Grand Prix. The choice of tires among the drivers was a balanced mix of hard and medium compounds. Max Verstappen complained about a lack of grip in the slow corners, but Alex Albon didn’t seem to have the same issue. In the Williams, he clocked the fastest time. His new teammate, Franco Colapinto, stood out in a different way: the Argentine drove into the wrong pit crew in the pit lane.

With just over half an hour to go, the drivers switched to soft tires to simulate the qualification. Albon was quick again, until Lando Norris took the lead and set an impressive time. Only Charles Leclerc came close.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton Struggle in Preliminary Rounds

Max Verstappen has already indicated that this circuit does not go hand in hand with the RB20. The championship leader is almost 1.3 seconds short on Norris with the red-cheeked tire. Lewis Hamilton also struggles with his car and is almost a second behind the fastest time. Verstappen does not get further than P15, Hamilton does not get further than P11. Of course, these are still the preliminary rounds, but it is clear that there is still a lot of work to be done for both gentlemen.

George Russell’s Car Hits the Wall

In the final minutes, George Russell parks his Mercedes in the wall, but can continue his way to the pit lane without a front wing.
