Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly have been summoned to the FIA stewards following the Chinese Grand Prix. The cars of both drivers were found to be underweight after the race. Both the SF-25 and the A525 were just one kilogram under the minimum allowed weight. Leclerc and Gasly, who finished fifth and eleventh respectively in Shanghai, may face disqualification.
Charles Leclerc completed the Chinese Grand Prix with a damaged front wing, so his car was weighed after the race with a spare wing. According to an official report from the FIA, the SF-25 weighed 800.5 kilograms, half a kilo above the allowed limit. However, after removing two liters of remaining fuel, the car weighed only 799 kilograms, one kilo under the minimum allowed weight. The same was true for Alpine driver Pierre Gasly, also a good friend of Leclerc; his A525 also weighed 799 kilograms after the race.
Both drivers may face disqualification. This also happened to Mercedes driver George Russell during the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix. The Brit crossed the finish line first and celebrated his third career victory extensively on the podium. However, later his Mercedes was found to be more than one kilo underweight, resulting in his victory being declared invalid – his then teammate Lewis Hamilton consequently took the win.
