Charles Leclerc was clear after the Australian Grand Prix: there’s work to be done for Ferrari. The Italian team was quite disappointing with an eighth and tenth place for the Monegasque and his teammate Lewis Hamilton respectively. Only a moment over the team radio between Leclerc and his race engineer provided some hilarity for Formula 1 fans.

Ferrari was briefly in the spotlight during the Australian Grand Prix. A conversation between Charles Leclerc and his race engineer Bryan Bozzi provided some amusement in an otherwise disappointing race for the Scuderia.

“Is there a leak? My seat is filling up with water,” Leclerc reported over the team radio. “That must be water,” came the response from his race engineer Bozzi. “Let’s add that to the list of words of wisdom,” the Monegasque then said with a touch of sarcasm. The moment went viral on the internet.Apologies for the confusion, but there seems to be a mistake. Work to be Done

Aside from the memorable radio exchange between Carlos Sainz Jr and his engineer, the race of both Scuderia drivers was overshadowed by the battle at the top between the McLarens and Max Verstappen. Ferrari struggled to keep up with the leading teams during the rest of the race. “We were about as fast as the Mercedes, but that was it,” Leclerc explains after the race. “McLaren and Red Bull were much faster. So, there’s still a lot of work to be done.”

According to Leclerc, it’s not new that the Ferrari car struggles in rainy conditions. “It’s a weakness we’ve had for a few years. I think we always fluctuate when it rains or is humid. Today’s conditions were so unique that it’s very difficult to draw any conclusions.” However, both Scuderia drivers were still able to bring home valuable points for the constructors’ championship.
