Lewis Hamilton is completely done with his final season at Mercedes. The seven-time world champion is extremely frustrated that he could only gain one position during the sprint in Qatar, while teammate George Russell was fighting for second place. Hamilton is completely worn out and is already eagerly looking forward to the winter break.

Lewis Hamilton could only gain one position during the shortened race at the Lusail International Circuit. Max Verstappen lost his sixth place to the Brit right after the start. However, for the seven-time world champion, it was not enough, and the Brit was visibly upset about the course of the sprint after the race.

On the Friday after the sprint qualification, Hamilton already admitted that he is “no longer fast”. Even after the sprint itself, the Mercedes driver remains pessimistic about his chances for the main race. “At this moment, I really don’t care. I just want to get through these upcoming races and do my job, show up and look forward to the winter break.”

Gratitude

The Mercedes driver has been in a slump for a while, he has lost seventeen times in the qualifications for the main races to teammate Russell this year, but he is still trying to find a silver lining. “I woke up this morning and I think the most important thing is to leave with gratitude,” Hamilton continues. “So I am really very grateful that I can do what I love, even if there are days when I don’t love it as much, and I am really very lucky to be here among all these other great athletes.”
