“I know I still have it in me to win, I have no doubt about that.” With these words, Lewis Hamilton tried to reassure Ferrari during his disappointing weekend in Qatar. Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur is already convinced. The Frenchman has full confidence that Hamilton’s adventure with the Scuderia will be successful.

“I’m not fast anymore” and “I just want to get through these upcoming races”. These were just two statements from Lewis Hamilton during his difficult race weekend in Qatar. The seven-time world champion was completely down, but assured future employer Ferrari that he can “certainly still race”.

‘No worries at all’

Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur believes Hamilton’s words and indicates that he has “no worries at all” about the future Scuderia driver. The Frenchman referred to Hamilton’s ride from tenth place to second on the grid during the Grand Prix of Las Vegas. Vasseur sees the American Grand Prix as proof that the seven-time world champion can certainly still race.

“Not at all. Just look at the fifty laps he drove in Vegas,” Vasseur replied to the question of whether he is worried about Hamilton’s form. “Starting at P10, finishing (just behind, ed.) Russell’s gearbox, I have no worries at all.” Hamilton is on track to take the lowest place in the drivers’ championship of his career. He is currently P7, behind teammate George Russell.
