Lewis Hamilton’s fans have been in a state of turmoil in recent days. After a disappointing race in São Paulo, the former champion hinted over the team radio that it might have been his last weekend with Mercedes. Is he going to be replaced ahead of the final three Grands Prix? It doesn’t seem likely. A Mercedes spokesperson confirms that Hamilton will indeed be participating in the upcoming triple header.

Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line in ‘his’ Brazil in tenth place. This earned him one World Championship point after a weekend in which he once again struggled with the elusive W15. In the cooldown lap, the 39-year-old Brit expressed his frustration over the team radio. “That was a disastrous weekend, guys,” he said disappointedly. “This is really the worst car ever. Thanks for trying and hats off to the pit stop mechanics. If this was my last ride, I’m gutted it didn’t go great. Nevertheless, I’m grateful to you all.”

Premature debut for Antonelli?

A cryptic message from the seven-time world champion. Why would this be his last ride? On social media, many fans wondered if he would already be replaced by Andrea Kimi Antonelli during the last three races of the season. Mercedes – currently in fourth place in the championship – no longer has a chance at the constructor’s title. However, the team does have a comfortable lead over the fifth place, Aston Martin.

For now, it seems that Lewis Hamilton will simply finish his last season with Mercedes. A spokesperson confirmed to Sky Sports that there is no question of an early switch. His radio messages during the GP of São Paulo were reportedly directed at some team members who are saying goodbye to the Silver Arrows after the weekend in Brazil.
