How are Lewis Hamilton’s preparations for his debut with Ferrari progressing? According to team boss Frédéric Vasseur, the seven-time world champion only has four weeks to truly acclimate to his new working environment. Whether 2025 will finally be the year of Ferrari and Hamilton, the Frenchman is not yet willing to predict.
2024 was a good year for Ferrari. The Italian racing team, thanks to drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, claimed five victories and finished just behind champion McLaren in the constructors’ championship. This gives Scuderia hope for the upcoming seasons, especially since Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team from 2025.
The only downside, according to Vasseur, is that the Brit will have little time during the winter break to adapt to Scuderia. “We are dependent on the weather, it’s not easy in January,” Vasseur tells various media. “It’s true that it’s very emotional, because I think he’s probably had this moment in his mind for twenty years. However, it should only be emotional for one lap and then refocus!”
Four Weeks
Ferrari previously announced that it will present the successor to the SF-24 on February 19, after which the new car will be immediately tested in Bahrain. “It’s true that it’s a short preparation, because we have something like four weeks in the factory before the first event, but it is what it is,” concludes Vasseur.
