June 26th, 2024, 8:03 AM

Attention, visitors of the Goodwood Festival of Speed! Reigning world champion Max Verstappen is set to grace the British motorsport event. The 26-year-old driver is part of a massive Red Bull delegation and will be in action on Sunday, July 14. For the occasion, Verstappen will be driving the RB16B, the car that secured his first world title.

Red Bull’s Grand Presence at the Event

Red Bull is going all out for the event. Alongside Verstappen, Sergio Perez, David Coulthard, Christian Klien, Christian Horner, Daniel Ricciardo, and Mark Webber will also be present at Goodwood. For the Dutchman, this will be his first time in action here. A few months ago, he made his debut at the Goodwood Revival, a similar event centered around classic (race) cars.

Verstappen’s Demonstration Rounds in the RB16B

Verstappen will be driving a few demonstration rounds in the RB16B, the car with which he clinched his first world championship in 2021. In addition, Red Bull will unveil the RB17, a mega-exclusive hypercar designed by Adrian Newey.

First World Champion at Goodwood

Duke Charles Gordon-Lennox, owner of the Goodwood estate and founder of the festival, is pleased to welcome Verstappen. “In the 31-year history of the event, this is the first time the Festival of Speed has been able to welcome a Formula 1 team on this scale,” he said. “It’s fantastic to have the current drivers, the reigning world champion, the team boss, and so many icons of the team with us.” Verstappen is the first reigning world champion to take action at Goodwood.

It is hoped that the English Formula 1 fans, who will undoubtedly travel to the estate in large numbers, can appreciate Verstappen’s participation. Crowd favorites Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris recently called for an end to booing towards the Red Bull driver.
