Max Verstappen, the three-time world champion from Red Bull Racing, is confident that he will continue with the team next season. He shared this during the FIA press conference leading up to the Austrian Grand Prix, stating, “We are already focusing on next year’s car, which I think says enough.”

Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull extends until 2028, but certain conditions could allow him to leave earlier. It’s well-known that he’s at the top of Mercedes’ wish list. Despite uncertain sporting prospects and backstage commotion, Verstappen doesn’t see himself making a switch after this season, despite all the speculation.

“I’ve said it before, the most important thing is that we have the fastest car in the future. We’re pushing as hard as possible to achieve that,” Verstappen stated. Even if Red Bull no longer has the fastest car at the end of this season, a departure is not currently on the cards, he continued.

‘That’s Not How Formula 1 Works’

Verstappen: “That’s not how Formula 1 works. I have a multi-year contract with Red Bull and we’re already focusing on next year’s car, which I think says enough. So yes, that means I’ll be racing for Red Bull next year.”

Verstappen did not comment on the period after 2025. In 2026, a new engine regulation will be enforced in Formula 1, and Red Bull will have to manage without the support of engine supplier Honda. Instead, Red Bull Powertrains (in collaboration with Ford) will develop the power unit. This process is reportedly challenging and causing concerns behind the scenes.
