The ever-busy Formula 1 calendar dictates that Max Verstappen and his colleagues will be in Austin in less than two weeks. The US Grand Prix marks the start of a new triple header, after which the circus will again take a few weeks off. The season will then conclude with another trio of races. However, Verstappen has some reservations about this arrangement.

“I’ve always said that there are quite a few races on the calendar,” Max Verstappen commented after the race weekend in Singapore. “But for me, it’s mainly about the different time zones.” In the final stages of the season, Formula 1 will visit Las Vegas and Qatar within two weeks. According to Verstappen, the time difference between the two countries is too significant to start fresh in Lusail.

‘We Need to Look at This’

“Between Vegas and Qatar, you’re almost flying to the other side of the world,” Verstappen explained. “During triple headers, we could organize this better – ensure that the different countries are somewhat closer together. I find that only logical.” After the race in Qatar, the season traditionally concludes with a race in Abu Dhabi. The distance between the two countries is much more manageable, according to the Dutch champion.

“That’s really something we need to look at,” Verstappen concluded. “If we’re going to do so many races, at least ensure that they’re closer together.” The calendar for 2025 has been known for some time – next year there will be twenty-four Grands Prix on the schedule, with three triple headers again.
