Not a day goes by without Formula 1 analysts both domestically and abroad speculating about the future of Max Verstappen. Will he ever move to another racing team? Admittedly, after a mediocre winter test from Red Bull, it’s not unthinkable that the Dutch champion might consider a transfer, not to mention the upcoming changes in regulations. However, his father, Jos Verstappen, can assure that his son is content where he is for now.

During an interview with radio station Joe, Jos Verstappen was asked about the future of the best car racer in our country. In the run-up to the new season, there was already talk of a blockbuster transfer to Aston Martin, and rumors about Mercedes persist. Team boss Toto Wolff flirted last year, after the sudden departure of Lewis Hamilton, with the idea of recruiting the Dutch champion. Max’s current contract with Red Bull runs until the end of 2028, but special performance clauses always provide an escape route.

‘There’s Nothing Going On’

“It’s mainly playing out on social media, people are making a problem out of it,” responded Jos Verstappen sternly. “At this moment, there’s nothing going on. There are no other contracts. The only contract that exists is with Red Bull. We’re just waiting and seeing how this year goes.” What’s truly important behind the scenes is the upcoming birth of Max Verstappen‘s first child with girlfriend Kelly Piquet. Jos Verstappen was asked if this will be a distraction for the 27-year-old Formula 1 driver. “I don’t think so,” he responded. “Looking at myself, it had absolutely no influence. Maybe he’s even happy to get away from home with all that crying,” he said, laughing.

Finally, Jos Verstappen addressed the future of his new grandchild. Will the youngest Verstappen also venture into motorsport? It’s not unthinkable that he or she will follow in the footsteps of his or her father and grandfather. “It’s much too early to say,” assured the former Formula 1 driver. “We wanted to start karting when Max was about six, but that ended up being a bit earlier. That being said, I don’t think the karts are ready yet.”
