Mercedes Shines in Spain as Hamilton Reaffirms Commitment Amid Upcoming Ferrari Switch

June 24th, 2024, 1:00 PM

Mercedes scored impressive points during the race weekend in Spain. The W15 proved that the results in Canada were not a fluke – drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell managed to keep both Ferraris at bay, finishing third and fourth respectively. Hamilton is set to switch to Ferrari’s team in 2025. Is the seven-time world champion having second thoughts?

After his first podium finish of 2024, Lewis Hamilton was asked about his transfer to Ferrari – a team seemingly lagging behind his current employer. “No, I’m not worried,” responded the Mercedes veteran. “I will always love Mercedes, I’ve been racing here since I was thirteen. My focus is now on this team. Whatever happens next year, I will always be proud of everything this team achieves. My work at Ferrari only starts next year,” explained Hamilton.

Is Ferrari Losing Its Edge?

Ferrari has been lacking speed in recent races – after a victory by Charles Leclerc in Monaco, the team fell short in Canada and Spain. “I don’t know what’s going on with Ferrari,” said Hamilton. “They’ve had a few tough Grands Prix, but don’t forget they won in Monaco. Their latest upgrade looked promising at least. It’s not like I’m doubting my decision now,” he referred to his upcoming transfer.
