As Haas enjoys one of its best season starts in years, driver Nico Hülkenberg is on the hunt for a new contract. The German has long been linked with a move to Sauber. With a takeover by Audi on the horizon, the Swiss team could greatly benefit from Hülkenberg’s expertise – and his German passport. A transfer is reportedly imminent.

Nico Hülkenberg once again managed to score points for Haas in China. With a tenth-place finish, he proved his worth to the Americans, who have repeatedly relied on the German’s skills this season. With a wealth of experience and a drive to get the most out of the car, Hülkenberg caught the eye of Sauber last year. The Hinwil-based team is said to have made him an offer in 2023, but no contract was signed. That is reportedly set to change next season.

A Multi-Year Contract with Sauber on the Horizon for Hülkenberg?

Rumors suggest that Nico Hülkenberg is on the verge of signing a multi-year contract with Sauber. According to German F1-insider.com, it’s only a matter of time before an official signature is added. The contract is said to be for three years, securing the 36-year-old driver until the end of 2027.

Advantage Hülkenberg in the Wake of Audi’s Takeover

With the impending takeover by German Audi, Sauber is an interesting project for any driver. Hülkenberg, with his German passport, is believed to have an edge over the competition – he is naturally more appealing to German sponsors. Alongside Hülkenberg, Audi is reportedly very interested in Carlos Sainz. A contract is said to be ready for him as well, but a signature is still pending.
