Former Ferrari driver Nigel Mansell is a big fan of the “sometimes eccentric” Lewis Hamilton. The Brit sees his compatriot as a “class apart” and as the ideal candidate to bring Ferrari back into the title fight. Therefore, Mansell makes a prediction for the 2025 championship.
Lewis Hamilton is set to leave for Ferrari at the end of the current season, after more than ten years of loyal service at Mercedes. Former Ferrari driver Nigel Mansell believes that Hamilton, as a driver for Scuderia, could do more than just conclude his long Formula 1 career. Mansell himself won three Grands Prix for the Italian team.
“I’ve always been a fan of Lewis Hamilton and I predicted he would become one of the best ever,” Mansell tells Top Offshore Sportsbooks. “He has done that. He gets a lot of criticism. I think what he has now done to conclude his Formula 1 career by going to Ferrari is a magical step for him.”
World Championship
According to Mansell, driving for Ferrari is “incredibly special” in itself, but Hamilton might also be able to end the drought of the Italian team. “Give Lewis the car, and he gets the job done,” says the former driver. “He will shift into another gear. He will be motivated again and I expect Lewis to be fighting for the world championship in 2025.”
