Following the Grand Prix of Japan, Lando Norris had nothing but praise for Max Verstappen. According to the British driver, Verstappen deserved the victory. While he was quite heated over the team radio during their joint exit from the pit lane, he was much more composed after the race. “It’s racing and Max is the last one who will give you space, and that’s all there was to it,” he said.
Norris, who seemed surprisingly upbeat for someone who had suffered a defeat despite having the fastest car on the track, saw no issue. “I think we had a good weekend,” he said. According to him, McLaren could do no better than P2 and P3 (Oscar Piastri). “We weren’t good enough to beat Red Bull and Max.”
The Dutch driver received compliments from his good friend. “Max drove a very good race and didn’t make a single mistake. It becomes difficult when you’re driving behind him, the speed was the same and there’s nothing more you can do. It was a long race, I pushed a lot. But there was nothing I could do to catch Max.”
