The British driver Oliver Bearman is set to compete in his third Grand Prix of the season this Sunday. Bearman will be replacing the unwell Kevin Magnussen for the remainder of the weekend at the São Paulo event, representing the Haas team. The young talent had already taken part in the first practice session and the sprint qualifying for Haas on Friday. In the so-called sprint shootout, he achieved a commendable tenth place.
Bearman is slated to join Haas next year. Earlier this year, he had already stepped in at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix when Magnussen was suspended due to an accumulation of penalty points. Bearman finished that race in tenth place, earning a World Championship point for the American racing team. Prior to this, Bearman had also successfully raced (finishing seventh) for Ferrari, substituting for the ill Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. As of now, little is known about Magnussen’s illness and condition.
With three races under his belt, Bearman will no longer be eligible to participate in the F1 rookie test after the season.
