Oscar Piastri had an excellent second season in Formula 1, but already has a higher goal in sight. The Australian hopes to compete for the world title and believes he already has all the ‘tools’ needed. “I just need to be able to use them consistently,” says the McLaren driver.
Oscar Piastri enjoyed a successful second season in the premier class, claiming his first two victories. The Australian finished fourth in the drivers’ championship, but hopes to improve in 2025. Piastri even believes he already has everything he needs to compete for the world title.
“I still have some learning and improving to do,” Piastri tells AS/MS: “I feel like I’m now in a phase where on certain days I have almost all the tools I need. I just don’t use them as often as I would like.” However, it’s an improvement for the driver compared to his first year in Formula 1. “Back then, I didn’t have all the tools I needed. I was still missing a few.”
Refining Skills
The McLaren driver also explains what tools he is referring to. “Whether it’s race pace, qualifying, racing against other drivers, I feel like I’ve shown good moments in those areas, or even in some of those areas. Overall, I’ve just been very satisfied.” According to Piastri, it’s now mainly a matter of “refining everything a bit more” for the next season.
