This weekend, at the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull will pay tribute to its engine partner Honda with a white RB21, inspired by the F1 car with which the Japanese brand achieved its first Grand Prix victory sixty years ago.
At least one detail Yuki Tsunoda won’t have to spend time getting used to. Making his debut for Red Bull this weekend, Liam Lawson‘s replacement will be driving a predominantly white single-seater, similar to the Racing Bulls he had handled in Australia and China. The Austrian team has indeed chosen the Japanese Grand Prix to honor its engine supplier, Honda, as the partnership will end at the end of the year after seven seasons of fruitful collaboration.
At Suzuka, the two Red Bulls of Verstappen and Tsunoda will hit the track with a special livery inspired by the Honda RA272, which American driver Richie Ginther drove to Honda’s very first Formula 1 victory at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix. The white replacing the usual blue, it will recall the colors of the Japanese flag with the famous red bull. The Honda logos also take on a vintage touch.
