Red Bull Racing has a reason to celebrate at the upcoming British Grand Prix. This marks the twentieth time the Austrian team will be racing at Silverstone. Operating from a factory in Milton Keynes, the team considers this a home race. To commemorate this occasion, Red Bull is introducing a special livery on the RB20, in addition to several upgrades.
Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez will have a unique RB20 at their disposal in Britain. Despite its dark blue design, it’s still recognizable as a Red Bull vehicle. However, several new red elements have been added. Like the special color schemes of the previous year, the design was created by a fan of the Austrian team.
“We are proud to use a fan’s livery again,” says Red Bull team boss Christian Horner. “Our fans are incredibly important to us, so it’s great to see that we can involve them in this way. I’ve seen a lot of submissions; it’s fantastic how inventive and creative our supporters can be. We are celebrating our twentieth season in the sport this year, and this livery is a beautiful tribute to the past years. I can’t wait to see this car at Silverstone.”
Red Bull Fan Designs Team’s New Livery
Thai native Chalaj Suvanish, a diehard Red Bull fan, is the mastermind behind the team’s latest livery. “I thought, ‘this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’,” says Suvanish. “I never thought I would actually win. Now, not only can I attend a Formula 1 race, but I also get to see my own design on the track!” Suvanish drew inspiration from the camouflage livery the team used during the winter tests in 2015.
Red Bull’s Future Livery Plans
Red Bull plans to introduce two more special liveries this year. The team hopes to utilize the creativity of their loyal supporters in Singapore and the United States.
