Christian Horner has had a few memorable days recently. While his Red Bull team driver Sergio Pérez had to make way for Liam Lawson, the team boss himself found time for a trip to Buckingham Palace. There, the Brit received a royal honour.

Just like in the Netherlands, prominent individuals in the United Kingdom can also receive a royal honour for their contributions to British society. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was the latest to be considered for this honour. The Brit was proclaimed by King Charles III as a Commander in the Order of the British Empire (CBE), the third highest honour in the British kingdom.

Honour

“I am honoured and delighted to have received the Commander of the British Empire from His Majesty the King at Buckingham Palace for contributions to motorsport,” the Brit writes on his Instagram channel. “In twenty years at Red Bull Racing, we have achieved unparalleled success, with eight driver titles, six constructor titles, and 122 victories.”

The team boss particularly thanks his family and the employees at the factory in Milton Keynes. “This honour would not have been possible without their love and support,” writes Horner. “Thank you.
