Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner, appears to be increasing the pressure on Sergio Pérez once again. Horner observes that Red Bull’s closest competitors have stronger driver pairings for 2025, and warns the Mexican driver not to let the gap with Max Verstappen grow any larger.

Sergio Pérez has a contract with Red Bull until 2026, but the Mexican’s ongoing slump in form could lead to an early departure from the team. Red Bull is also looking to the future, noting that the competition for 2025 has stronger line-ups than the Austrian team itself.

“If you look at our opponents, Ferrari will be strong next year, with Hamilton and Leclerc. Plus McLaren with Norris and Piastri is a strong line-up”, Horner tells Motorsport.com about the driver situation among the competition. “We need to ensure that there is no large gap between our two drivers, as that is something we cannot afford.”

Liam Lawson

Visa RB, Red Bull’s sister team, recently announced that Liam Lawson will replace Daniel Ricciardo from the Grand Prix in the United States. With this appointment of Lawson, Red Bull seems to be considering whether a young driver might be the solution for the future line-up. “We desperately need answers,” is all Horner has to say about Pérez’s future for now.
