Lando Norris, the charismatic British driver, has been gaining immense popularity both within and outside the Formula 1 circuit since his debut in 2019. From hanging out with Martin Garrix to making a guest appearance in the Champions League final, Norris is increasingly making his presence felt on the global stage. Experts predict that the McLaren driver could potentially become the new face of Formula 1.
With his first victory at the Miami Grand Prix, Lando Norris has etched his name in the annals of Formula 1 history. Despite being only 24, he is already one of the most popular figures in the sport. Even the most ardent Max Verstappen fans in the Netherlands have a soft spot for the affable Brit. Former McLaren designer Mark Preston predicts that Norris could play a significant role in the sport’s future.
Could Lando Norris be the New Face of Formula 1?
“Lando Norris could absolutely become the face of Formula 1,” says Preston in a conversation with OLBG. “There are periods in the sport when you have superheroes,” he refers to big names like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. “But when they retire, you need young drivers to take over. As soon as these youngsters start achieving some success, there’s a snowball effect – you start seeing them everywhere.”
According to Preston, that’s exactly what’s happening with Norris. “Just look at the media,” he continues. “You see it with George Russell, Alex Albon, and many more. I see it as a group that’s going to take the world stage together.”
