Oscar Piastri is making a strong impression in 2024. The McLaren driver has consistently scored points, with the exception of the Miami GP, and has already made it to the podium twice. Experts believe it’s only a matter of time before the young Australian claims his first victory. Former team boss Eddie Jordan goes a step further, predicting that Piastri will eventually clinch the world title.

Particularly during the last two races in Austria and Great Britain, Oscar Piastri realized he could have taken the win. However, exceeding track limits and a botched tire change spoiled his chances. It was a disappointment for the 23-year-old Australian, who has shown he doesn’t want to be outdone by Lando Norris. According to Eddie Jordan, Piastri should use these learning experiences to prepare for a future title fight.

In the Formula For Success podcast, Jordan explained that he has high expectations for Oscar Piastri. “He’s had a bit of bad luck,” said the former team boss. “In Austria, there was the whole track limits debacle, and now the tire change. But these are things you learn from. At a soaking wet Silverstone, he had to drive a whole lap on slicks. I think you learn a lot from such situations.”

Jordan believes these years are crucial for Oscar Piastri, who will undoubtedly get a chance at victory in the future. “He’s learning from McLaren and also from Lando Norris,” continued Jordan. “So if you ask me, I’m sure he’ll be world champion in a few years. He has everything you need to win the title. He’s already gaining so much experience that he could truly become one of the very best.”
