Robin Frijns secured a podium finish in the Formula E race in Portland, coming in second only to Portuguese racer António Félix Da Costa. This marks Frijns’ second podium finish in this Formula E season, while his fellow Dutchman, Nyck de Vries, had to settle for twelfth place.

Robin Frijns started the first race in Portland in third place but lost a spot at the start. By the 12th lap, the Dutchman briefly led the race, but eventually crossed the finish line in third place. New Zealander Mitch Evans initially finished first, but a five-second penalty dropped him to eighth place, allowing Frijns to move up a spot on the podium. Meanwhile, Nyck de Vries was on track to finish eleventh but ended up in twelfth place at the finish line.

Frijns Reflects on His Performance

“We were always at the front, and that was the goal,” Frijns reflected on his Formula E race performance. “I think the strategic calls in the background were also very good. They helped me finish where I did.”

Despite being satisfied with his result in Portland, Frijns is already looking for areas to improve. “I’m missing a slight advantage in the setup, but we can work on that for [Sunday]. We will fight again then.” The second race of the Formula E weekend in Portland is scheduled for Sunday at 14:00 UST. Prior to the race, the drivers will qualify again at 09:40 UST.
