Sebastian Vettel, the former Formula 1 driver, is making a one-off return to motorsport. He will be teaming up with Mick Schumacher to form the ‘superteam’ for Germany in the Race of Champions Nations Cup. The race is scheduled for March 7, 2025, in Sydney, Australia (UTC).

Vettel bid farewell to Formula 1 in 2022 after a 15-year stint in the premier class. His participation in the Race of Champions marks his first return to competitive motorsport since the end of his Formula 1 career. Vettel had previously tested for Porsche’s WEC team.

The Race of Champions is a race where drivers from various racing classes compete against each other. This is the first time the event will be held in Australia. “I am delighted to return to the Race Of Champions and to work again with Mick,” says Vettel. “It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney, a fantastic location for the race.”

This is not the first time the four-time world champion has participated in the Race of Champions. Vettel won the individual competition of the event in 2015. The Nations Cups component of the event is also familiar territory for the German. Between 2007 and 2012, Vettel teamed up with Michael Schumacher, the father of his current teammate, and won the Nations Cup every time.

Former Haas driver Mick Schumacher is also excited about his collaboration with Vettel. “Australia is one of my favorite places and representing Germany with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will definitely be a lot of fun,” says Schumacher. The driver raced in Formula 1 for Haas in 2021 and 2022, but had to make way for Nico Hülkenberg.
