Sergio Pérez has been under scrutiny since the Grand Prix in Miami. The Mexican is currently experiencing a slump in form, casting doubt on his future with Red Bull. However, a new sponsorship deal is reportedly easing Pérez’s concerns about his ongoing Formula 1 career.
The Spanish sports newspaper Marca reports that Sergio Pérez has secured a lucrative sponsorship deal for the 2025 season. Although the paper does not disclose who these sponsors are, they are said to be companies with significant influence. Furthermore, the Spanish outlet reports that Red Bull has given Pérez the green light to produce his own merchandise and clothing line.
“It’s a type of agreement that precedes a production process and has received all approvals from the economic team, after approval by Horner,” writes Marca. “Those who consider him written off will have to wait a bit longer, as he still has a contract until 2025. Unless something changes at the last minute (which is not impossible at Red Bull), it looks like he will fulfill that contract,” the outlet concluded.
Personal Sponsorship Deals
Thanks to new sponsors, the list of sponsorship deals for the Mexican driver, Sergio Pérez, continues to grow. Companies such as Claro, Telcel, and Infinitum, all part of the group owned by Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, are reportedly set to continue supporting Pérez in 2025. These sponsorship deals are all personally tied to the Mexican driver and are contingent on his staying with Red Bull. For Red Bull, it’s worth retaining these sponsors as they cover Pérez’s salary, estimated at over 10 million dollars, and also invest around 30 million dollars in the racing team itself.
Potential Bad News for Lawson and Tsunoda?
Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, drivers for Red Bull’s sister team, Visa RB, are the most likely candidates to replace Sergio Pérez. Lawson, in particular, has made a strong impression since his return to Formula 1, and is even considered by Jos Verstappen as the ‘logical successor to Pérez’. However, the New Zealander doesn’t bring in as much sponsorship money as the Mexican, which could potentially influence his chances of securing a seat in 2025.
