Following the confirmation of his departure from Red Bull, Sergio Pérez has published an extensive thank-you note in which he thanks, among others, Max Verstappen. Although the Mexican is understandably saddened by the end of his time at Red Bull Racing, he calls it an honor to have been a teammate of the four-time world champion.
“I am grateful for the past four years at Red Bull Racing and the fact that I was able to drive for such an incredibly good team,” Pérez said in a response on social media. “It was an unforgettable experience and I will forever cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached special milestones, and I also got to meet many wonderful people.”
In his statement, the Mexican also speaks highly of the staff at Red Bull Racing, in all roles and functions, from engineers to catering. In addition, Pérez specifically thanks Verstappen. “It was an honor to be able to ride as a teammate next to Max and share in our successes.”
What the future will bring for Pérez will soon become clear. The fans haven’t seen the last of him, in whatever capacity. “We will meet again soon.
