Pirelli has unveiled the trophies for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix. These awards, destined for the top three drivers and the winning constructor, are designed to embody speed and the rich history of Italian car design. The unique trophies, named ‘VROOOM’ by their designer and artist, Andrea Sala, are sure to make a statement.
The Inspiration Behind ‘VROOOM’
The name ‘VROOOM’ is inspired by the sound of a powerful engine accelerating, a sound that Pirelli believes perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere of Formula 1 and the iconic Monza circuit. The trophies consist of a black valchromat main body and a chromed aluminum base, designed to capture the long history of Pirelli tires and impressions of speed and acceleration.
Pirelli’s Partnership with the Italian Grand Prix
Since 2021, the trophies for the Italian Grand Prix have been sponsored by Pirelli. This year, the tire manufacturer invited renowned artist Andrea Sala to design the awards. Sala’s work is typically found in prestigious museums and private collections. His pieces are known for exploring the relationship between art, Italian design, and industrial production.
‘VROOOM’ Reflects Monza’s Unique Characteristics
According to Pirelli, ‘VROOOM’ reflects the unique characteristics of Monza and the speed of the Italian Grand Prix. The ‘Temple of Speed’ is a circuit that is inextricably linked with speed. In 2003, Michael Schumacher set a record there with his Ferrari by averaging 247.585 kilometers per hour.
