Orange on top! IndyCar driver Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout reveals that he will race with a special livery for the Indy500. The livery features an orange ‘touch’, a nod to the national color of the Netherlands. ‘It’s an honor that they’ve taken my Dutch roots into account,’ says ‘VeeKay’.

This year marks the 109th edition of the Indianapolis 500, and Van Kalmthout will race in a one-off livery specifically for this event. Usually, the Dale Coyne Racing driver races in blue and white colors, but for the Indianapolis 500, an orange ‘touch’ will be added. The special livery is a collaboration with main sponsor and AI platform askROI, and was designed by Dave Marek, Creative Director of Honda America.”The orange will be visible on both Van Kalmthout’s mirror and the endplates of the front wing. “It’s a tremendous privilege to be able to drive in the colors of askROI,” says ‘VeeKay’ from Indianapolis. “In addition, it’s an honor that they have taken into account my Dutch roots and thus applied orange hues to the car. Illustrator Dave Marek and his creative team have truly created something unique.”

Sixth Participation

The qualification for the prestigious Indianapolis 500 takes place on the fourth weekend of May. If Van Kalmthout qualifies for the main race, it will be the Dutchman’s sixth participation in the most important event of the IndyCar.
