Max Verstappen has taken a humorous jab at the latest season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive. The series is known for its loose interpretation of the truth, something that the world champion clearly noticed. For instance, the series portrayed Verstappen as being upset about Norris’ first victory in Miami, while the Dutchman himself was simply having ‘the time of his life’ after his friend’s win.

The new season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive is out, and the American series does not shy away from dramatizing last season’s events. Several fans online had already noticed that the Netflix series, for example, chose to insert clips of a disgruntled Max Verstappen during the weekend in Zandvoort after Norris’ first victory in Miami. This is despite the fact that the Dutchman was one of the first drivers to congratulate the Brit on his win.

“Apparently, I was very upset after Miami,” Verstappen mocks Drive to Survive during a livestream. “I was literally having the time of my life that Sunday evening, so I don’t know why I was so upset.”

‘Drama is Necessary’

Drive to Survive has, over its seven seasons, given a significant boost to the popularity of Formula 1, particularly in America. However, the series has been known to take liberties with the truth. “Of course, I understand that when you make a series, there needs to be drama,” Max Verstappen previously explained. “But I also think it’s important to be portrayed truthfully. They shouldn’t attach reactions to certain footage when that’s not how it happened.”
