Max Verstappen is only four penalty points away from a racing ban, but this does not motivate the Dutchman to change his driving style for the 2025 season. “I know when I’ve gone too far,” explains the four-time world champion.

Verstappen’s total number of penalty points currently stands at eight, meaning the Dutchman is just four points away from a racing ban. The penalty points remain on the Red Bull driver’s license for a year. This means that the first points will not expire until the British Grand Prix in July. However, the Dutchman will not change his racing approach until then.

“I will not change my driving style because of this,” Verstappen candidly tells Blick. The driver explains that he can judge for himself when he has crossed the line. “I know when I’ve gone too far. Like during the final in Abu Dhabi when I attacked Oscar Piastri at the start. I had no problem apologizing to him after the race.”

Paternity Leave

Verstappen received two penalty points for causing the collision with the Australian, after he had already received two time penalties in Mexico City for incidents with Lando Norris. Verstappen previously joked that if he were to accumulate twelve points before the British Grand Prix, he could then “go on paternity leave.”
