Who is the more versatile driver, Max Verstappen or NASCAR driver Kyle Larson? This debate sparked during the summer break. Verstappen responds for the first time to the American’s statements. The Dutchman hopes to demonstrate his racing skills in other racing classes someday.
During the summer break, the debate was not only about the battle between Red Bull and McLaren. NASCAR driver Kyle Larson also verbally took on Max Verstappen, declaring after his third Knoxville Nationals title that he was a more versatile driver than the Dutch champion.
However, Verstappen didn’t pay much attention to the American’s statements. “Everyone has their own opinion,” was the Dutchman’s cool response when asked about it during the press conference in Zandvoort.
Verstappen’s Future Racing Ambitions
Verstappen, the Limburger, does not rule out the possibility of demonstrating his superior racing skills in different cars to Larson. “At the moment, it’s quite challenging to juggle other racing classes with F1, given the number of races. However, once I retire from Formula 1, I would like to explore other opportunities and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle,” Verstappen revealed. “Let’s see what opportunities come my way.”
‘Not as Good as Me’
Fernando Alonso also contributed to the Verstappen-Larson debate, jokingly asserting that there is certainly one driver who is better than both. “Max is also quite good in GTs, and I bet he is good at everything, but not as good as me,” was the modest response from the Spaniard. “In F1, I accept that he is as good as me.”
“You have to adapt very quickly to different disciplines. Oval racing is one thing, it requires a completely different technique and skills,” Alonso continued seriously. “In Dakar, it’s about accelerating and braking simultaneously for six hours. It’s all about dominating the car. It’s not easy to adapt to that.” Alonso has previously participated in the Indy500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and still harbors ambitions to compete in the Dakar Rally.
