The thrilling showdown between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris at the Austrian Grand Prix has given the Formula 1 season a significant boost. Granted, the point difference between the two rivals is currently too large to truly speak of a title fight, but recent races have made it clear that both always have a shot at victory. The rising ticket sales for the British Grand Prix speak volumes.

Silverstone Circuit has struggled to sell tickets in recent months. While nearly half a million spectators flocked to the British event last year, many tickets remained unsold in 2024. Circuit boss Stuart Pringle blamed the dominance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen, arguing that Formula 1 had become too predictable to warrant attending the race live.

High Ticket Prices

Verstappen defended himself by stating that the British Grand Prix is responsible for its own ticket sales. “The Formula 1 season is very exciting this year, with multiple teams fighting for the win,” he said. “If a promoter can’t fill the stands and wants to blame someone, they should look at themselves. Because then you’re doing something wrong.” The three-time world champion received support from Lewis Hamilton, who expressed concern about the high ticket prices.

Pringle no longer needs to worry. The Silverstone circuit has announced that ticket sales have skyrocketed since the drama in Spielberg. British fans are eager to cheer on Lando Norris, who had to retire early during the Austrian Grand Prix, at his home race.
