Currently trailing Lando Norris by just one point in the drivers’ championship, Max Verstappen is the biggest threat to the McLaren driver. Both Red Bull and McLaren are naturally hoping to secure the world title for their driver this year, sparking a verbal battle between the teams. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella has criticized Max Verstappen’s complaints about the challenging RB21.
The battle between Red Bull and McLaren teams has intensified, with Max Verstappen just one point behind Lando Norris in the drivers’ championship. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko previously added fuel to the fire by suggesting that McLaren is favoring the wrong driver, Norris. According to the Austrian, Oscar Piastri is both faster and mentally stronger than the Brit.
McLaren team boss Andrea Stella is now hitting back in the verbal battle between the two teams. The Italian is not pleased with Max Verstappen’s complaints about the issues with the RB21. “I wonder what the Red Bull employees think when they hear their own driver talking about the car they built in this way,” Stella told Sky Italia. “A driver should be the ambassador of a team’s values. So, a bit of solidarity towards the Red Bull employees would be appropriate.”
Provocation
At the same time, Stella believes that Verstappen’s comments about the RB21 are not just a way for the Dutchman to vent his frustrations. “We know that Max is not only great in the car, he also has very good communication skills. He knows exactly how to provoke someone.”
