With his impressive victory in Brazil, Max Verstappen has significantly extended his lead in the World Championship standings over Lando Norris. The Dutchman secured 26 points, while the British driver, finishing sixth, earned only 8. Instead of closing the gap, Verstappen has increased his championship lead from 44 to 62 points.
The outcome of the Mexican Grand Prix also has implications for the constructor’s title race. The Ferrari team scored the most points (41) in Mexico, thanks to Carlos Sainz’s victory and Charles Leclerc’s third-place finish (plus the fastest lap). McLaren accumulated 22 points, while Red Bull had to settle for Verstappen’s 8 points. As a result, Ferrari has now overtaken Red Bull, but McLaren still leads with a 29-point advantage over the Italians.
