Following the addition of Dutch karting prodigy Dean Hoogendoorn (12), Williams has welcomed another young karter to their Driver Academy: Lucas Palacio. The American is two years younger than the teenager from Woubrugge.
They say the future belongs to the young, and Williams firmly believes in this, as evidenced by the arrival of Lucas Palacio. Despite being only 10, the American already boasts an impressive career. He claimed his first victory at the tender age of three, and his star has been on the rise ever since.
Palacio joins a growing group of future stars that Williams is investing in through its own training program. Recently, Franco Colapinto advanced to an F1 racing seat through this very program. “This is a dream come true to be part of the Williams family,” Palacio said. “I’ve loved racing ever since the first time I drove a kart.” According to Williams’ Sports Director Sven Smeets, the American is ‘an exciting young talent’.
