As the competition intensifies at the forefront, British team Williams remains scoreless and at the bottom of the pack. Their season so far has been marked by crashes and issues with the available chassis. Driver Alexander Albon urges his team to quickly introduce upgrades, lest they fall behind in the race for a spot in the top ten.
Williams has shown little promise in 2024. Drivers Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant have frequently caused crashes, forcing the team to invest significant time and money in repairing the cars. The Australian Grand Prix was a low point – Albon had to step into his teammate’s car due to a lack of a spare chassis. Now that Williams has the necessary parts in stock, it’s crucial that the FW46 is improved.
“It’s frustrating,” said Alexander Albon after finishing eighteenth in Miami. “But we know where we can find the performance. Once we can utilize this, I believe we will regularly score points. We need to manage the lack of upgrades, which are unfortunately late. This is causing us to fall behind.”
‘Visa RB and Haas have made a significant leap’
Overall, the British-Thai driver is positive about the progress the team has made compared to last year. In 2023, the team finished in a respectable seventh place in the championship, but it took a long time to score good points. “The fact is that Visa RB and Haas have made a significant leap,” Albon admitted. “We have also made progress, but it’s relative. My weekend in China felt very good, but I finished in P12. That’s where we stand.”
