Williams Team Gears Up for a New Era

James Vowles, the team principal of Williams, signals the dawn of a new era for his team. With the introduction of Carlos Sainz as Alexander Albon’s teammate, Vowles aims to showcase a ‘different Williams’. The team is determined to climb to the top of the field in the coming years.

Carlos Sainz will be leaving Ferrari for Williams in 2025, becoming the new teammate of Alexander Albon. Williams team principal, James Vowles, believes that with Sainz and Albon as their line-up, his team possesses the strongest driver duo on the grid. “There’s no politics between them. They both want the team to succeed, which means they’re pushing the team forward rather than fighting each other,” Vowles explains.

Williams has high ambitions with these two drivers. “We have the best opportunity to create a platform for them (Sainz and Albon) to climb and compete for championships,” says Vowles. “Fighting for a championship, as you see time and time again, is hard to sustain structurally. But I think I have the two drivers where it’s very possible to maintain that.”

A Different Williams

Currently, Williams ranks eighth in the constructors’ championship and is not playing a role in the current title fight. However, Vowles plans to change this in the coming years. “The reason to showcase a line-up of the quality we have is because I want the world to realize that this is a different Williams. This is a Williams that is serious in its fight to the top,” concludes Vowles.
